I was so excited to see Burt’s Bees‘ invitation to their 30th Birthday celebration for a couple of reasons. 1. Their invitation was just so beautiful. It was classy, simple and useful. 2. I have only tried out a few products from the line, their hand lotion and lipbalms. And I really wanted to see more.
We were welcomed with one of my favorite things at the moment, fruit infused water. I combined orange, lemon, taragon and a little bit of honey. I don’t have sensitive skin. I don’t particularly break out all of a sudden from using anew product. But that never stopped me from looking at the packaging, checking the ingredients and reasearching on good alternatives to chemicals. That behavior heightened when I got pregnant given that pregnant women can’t use some products containing acne medication or whitening. So now we ask, “How do I know what’s good for my skin?” This is where our bees come in. It has been 30 years since Burt’s Bees was born. And they have been true to their claim of using products we can spell, using fine ingredients and only the best for you and your skin. And these are all-natural ingredients straight from the source: nature.
I learned so much about the brand. I have to say I didn’t get a lot of information from sales attendants when I ask about the brand and sometimes even about the products. So it’s nice to be able to go to these events because you I get first hand knowledge and I get to ask questions. 😉
I learned that Burt is an actual person. He’s already 79-year-old. Burt Shavitz started his business at the back of his truck. And he still still lives today, not as the iconic sketch you would see on the tins, but as a man who has completely embraced his hippie lifestyle despite his success and fame. Unbelievable isn’t it?
Here’s a little video that the team shared with us. Burt’s story will be released this year.
We were also taught watercolor! Liz shared his new passion with us. Taught us the basics of watercolor. And I gotta say at first, I was scared. I was never good in drawing. I guess I just really liked the face as my canvas. Haha! But as Liz was showing us the ropes, it looked really fun and it was kinda relaxing to be honest.
Here’s what Liz came up with. 🙂
And here’s my little art. Be gentle, it was my first time to do this after so many years.
Thanks Gem for the ride! I rode with her to the event! 😀

Happy Birthday Burt’s Bees! And thank you for sharing your wonderful products with us! I, for one, have always been a fan of the brand. But after seeing the presentation, I’m now a more bigger fan of the man behind the brand. I can’t wait to try more of your products!
To celebrate the 30th birthday of Burt’s Bees, SampleRoom also has a Burt’s Bees run! Hopefully there’s still some stock left. These are the best sellers of the brand.
