Hello fellow moms! Did you know that August is Breastfeeding Awareness Month? I've been kind of a slacker because I wanted to kick off August with this post but wasn't able to because I've become so busy with other stuff. So I really wanted to post this before the month ends.
I want to share with you the breast pads that I use. Just a quick background, I have been exclusively breastfeeding my baby since day 1 and she is now 6 months old. I do pump as well but I mostly feed her directly because I work from home. I don't have any milk supply problem, lucky me. And I find myself needing to wear breast pads 24/7.
Reusable/Washable/Cloth Breast Pads
I use reusable/washable/cloth (whatever you want to call it) breast pads during the day. I nurse my baby almost every 2 hours so I don't really have much problems with leaking. I use this especially when I'm home. I find that using washable ones is definitely more cost effective than using disposables as they can be washed and reused over and over again. I use 3 brands at the moment.
Looney Tunes Nursing Pads
P149.75 for 2 pairs

This is my least expensive pair of washable breast pads. I was hesitant to get it at first just because I don't really know much about the Looney Tunes brand but decided to give it a try after using so many boxes of disposables and not wanting to shell out more.
What I LIKE:
- affordable
- no leaking (as long as you continuously nurse. Maximum is 4 hours no nursing.)
- big size. It covers a big area of the breast.
- easy to find
- waterproof layer
What I DON"T LIKE:
- flat shape
La Leche League Bra Pads

I got this from Mama Baby Love during one of their bazaars and this is definitely my favorite pair or reusable breast pads. Although I still wouldn't use it for night time because that's when I have major leakage problem.
What I LIKE:
- deep contour shape so it's not as obvious
- seamless, so again it's not obvious under your shirt
- big size to cover bigger area
- no leaking (max of 4 hours no nursing)
What I DON"T LIKE:
- You can only purchase online or in bazaars
- dents form after using it a lot of times (I think you can prevent this by not scrunching it up too much when washing it)
Tiny Tots Wetproof Reusable Breast Pads
P99.00/pair
back
- absorbs more liquid
- no leaking
- soft and light even though it's thicker
What I DON'T LIKE:
- no plain colors
- smaller size
- since it's thick, it's more obvious when you wear a fitted shirt
- available online or in bazaars
During night times or whenever I go out without the baby or I just need extra support, I go for disposable breast pads. Actually I have had a leaking experience when I used cloth pads when I went out. So yes, I have to have disposable ones too! At night, I usually have fuller breasts because the latest I nurse her is around 12-12:30mn. And the next time I would nurse her is about 10am.
The best disposable breast pads I've tried is from Pigeon. Hands down!
Pigeon Disposable Breast Pads
P325.00 for 18 pairs
What I LIKE:
- super absorbent. It keep absorb liquid for over 10 hours.
- stay dry
- big size, thus covering bigger area
- You can tape it and stick it to your bra.
- easy to find
What I DON"T LIKE:
- pricey
So that's about it! Those are the breast pads I'm currently using and have tried and tested. I do suggest you check these brands out and choose which you like best. I've been using most of these since the 1st month and I am very much contented. :)
